NASA was formed on the 1st October 1958 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower to encourage peaceful exploration in space science. Since that time most of the US space exploration efforts have been led by NASA including the Apollo 11 Moon landing on July 20th 1969. NASA Launched the 1st American into space on 5th May 1961 and the 1st American woman on 18th June 1983. Today NASA are planning towards a goal to have a man on Mars by the 2030's.
